Birthday Weekend

The weekend after my Birthday, we took a little road trip to Western Oregon! We had SO MUCH FUN seeing friends and family! It was a much needed get-away.

Thursday after work we drove to Prineville and stayed with Uncle Mike and Aunt Tammy. They treated us to Gee's Chinese take-out and we enjoyed chatting, feeding the cows, and watching them entertain Adalyn. Toots warmed up to Aunt Tammy right away! She took a little longer with Uncle Mike, but eventually came around.

Friday morning we drove over Mount Hood to Portland. We met Kimmie for sushi, then headed to IKEA and spent several hours (!) shopping for new furniture for our office. Auntie Kimmie was such a trooper! After our IKEA trip, the four of us headed out to the Lattner Resort, also known as Echo's parents' house. We seriously felt like we were staying at a fancy resort! Dinner was ready for us when we got there, we visited the horses in the stables, we got to go swimming in their solar heated pool, then finished the evening roasting marshmallows and chatting around the fire. It was so nice to spend time with Echo and catch up with Ron and Joan. Saturday morning Joan fixed pancakes and sausage and Adalyn tried out her cowgirl skills:

We headed to the zoo after breakfast where we met up with Kimmie again, and Joe and Lisa. We checked out all the animals (Adalyn still talks about the bears that were playing together) and rode the train.

After the zoo, we headed to one of our favorite restaurants, Pho Nguyen. There, we met up with Hollan & Corinne and Keely & Rodney (they drove all the way from Seattle!). We enjoyed a great meal then caravan-ed (I'm making up words here) over the Voodoo Donuts! It was a first time for many of us and quite the experience. I was expecting a Seinfeld Soup-Nazi outburst ("No donuts for you! Next!"), but luckily we survived the experience unscathed. :)

We then headed to Kimmie's house in Washougal, Washington for our final night. Adalyn terrorized the Schnorkie, Parker and we enjoyed more chatting and catching up. We headed for home Sunday morning, stopped for a quick chat with Auntie Shan in Baker City, and made it home safely that evening. All in all, it was a fun, memorable, much needed family weekend!
