Our little Tolman Baby turned 9 months old this week! Here's a recap of the milestones she's reached:
Sleep:
Adalyn sleeps pretty soundly. She usually wakes up once during the night. She takes 2 or 3 naps per day.
Eating:
Adalyn still eats five or six 5-6 ounce bottles per day. She also eats solids (baby food, rice cereal, crackers, or whatever we're eating) several times per day. We haven't found a food she won't eat yet. Remember the pea video from a couple months back? We've moved past that. She'll even eat peas now!
Motor Skills:
Adalyn is now crawling all over the place! It took her several weeks to really figure it out, but it is finally official belly-off-the-ground, one arm, one leg, other arm, other leg, crawling! There's no stopping her now. She's trying to pull herself up and is successful part of the time. She would also desperately like to walk and often insists that we help her with it. I can't count the number of times I've tried to put her down to sit on the floor and she refuses by stiffening her body and grunting with all her might. And that takes me to the next category...
Personality:
Adalyn is pretty strong-willed. She knows what she wants and lets you know if she's not getting it. Don't get me wrong; she's usually pretty happy unless she's hungry, tired, or needs a diaper change. But, she's also determined. She prefers to do things her way, but not entirely on her own. She doesn't like to be left alone. (Boy, I don't know anyone else like this...)
Growth and development:
Adalyn weighed 17 lbs 6 ounces and measured 27.75 inches long at her 9 month doctor's visit. She ranks in about the 25th percentile for height and weight. She has her two bottom teeth and it seems her top teeth are starting to come in. She hasn't said any words yet, but she babbles quite a bit. She also sort of coos along when a song is playing.
Interests:
Adalyn loves electronics. She's fascinated by cell phones and remote controls. She likes to jump in her Johnny Jump-Up. She likes the dogs. She likes to take baths and splash in the water. She likes to touch and look at jewelry. She loves going the babysitter's house and playing with the kids. She likes toys with lights and sounds. She likes books and being read to. She also loves riding on the lawnmower with her Grandpa!
Health:
Adalyn has been illness free until just recently. She had her first round of antibiotics a few weeks ago for an ear infection and is currently fighting off a nasty cold that we've all had. I feel so bad for her. Her little voice sounds so hoarse and she sounds so pitiful when she cries. I think she's feeling better today though. She woke up happy and is beginning to get back to her usual personality.
